£1,591 raised by the Frodsham & Helsby Golf Society. The cheque was presented to Elle Fitzgeralf of Halton Haven Hospital.
Founded in 1983, the Frodsham & Helsby Golf Society has been a pillar of camaraderie in the local community for over 40-years. Comprising passionate golfers, the society brings together players to enjoy golf for charity across various courses throughout the year. Beyond the greens, the group’s legacy lies in its dedication to giving back—a tradition that continues to impact.
Nigel Cunniffe as Golf Captain
The society appoints a new captain each year, and for 2024, Frodsham resident Nigel Cunniffe stepped into this esteemed role. Nigel turned his attention to supporting a cause close to the group’s heart: Halton Haven Hospice. They provide vital care for individuals facing life-limiting illnesses, making them a cornerstone of compassion in the community. Thus an amazing cause to choose!
Honouring a Legacy: Supporting Halton Haven Hospice
The decision to support Halton Haven Hospice was inspired by the memory of David Chapman, a cherished member who received exceptional care at the hospice. Under Nigel’s captaincy, members rallied together to raise funds through creative and community-driven golf initiatives e.g.
- Sweepstakes: Organized at every event, adding a sense of excitement and friendly competition.
- Auctions: Members generously bid on four-ball rounds at prestigious golf courses.
- Fines for Faux Pas: A light-hearted approach where humorous mistakes on the course turned into charitable contributions.
This effort highlighted the society’s unique ability to blend fun with purpose, ultimately raising vital funds for a deserving cause. And If you would like to see some more of our charity work visit our charity news 🙂
